Took several hours longer than they estimated, and their actual pricing was also much higher than was quoted over the phone, felt very deceptive. And while it’s nice that they hire people with special needs, the woman working the desk messed up my pricing and wound up costing me several hours of my life trying to amend. I would avoid and use pretty much any other tow company in the area. Edit in response to their reply: I think their inability to accept responsibility of their shortcomings is very telling. Again, if you care about your car, time, or wallet, I would go elsewhere.

Looks like I am not alone in thinking that my interaction with office manager Elda was totally unprofessional. As a business, you think you would want your customer facing staff to at least be remotely pleasant to work with.

I am a local business owner in Santa Barbara, and I came to Loves Towing to assist one of my employees in retrieving his vehicle — simply trying to do the right thing and ensure a young man could get back to work. The experience was unlike anything I have encountered in a professional setting. The woman working in the office was extraordinarily rude from the moment I walked in. When I calmly asked if we could please start over given the tone of our exchange, she told me to go outside and — I am quoting directly — that she “hopes my miserable life is waiting” for me there. She then refused to release the vehicle — despite there being no lawful grounds to withhold it — and told me she would not be doing business with me that day and to come back tomorrow. That decision cost us hundreds of additional dollars in fees, caused real hardship for my employee, and served no legitimate purpose. Towing companies often interact with people on some of their worst days. There is no excuse for exploiting that vulnerability with contempt and deliberate obstruction. The attendant was extremely unprofessional. She insisted that we were required to use a flatbed tow truck and initially refused to release our vehicle, despite the fact that we were able to safely drive it onto our trailer. We explained that there is no California law requiring the use of a tow truck to redeem an impounded vehicle. As the legal owners, we are not required to have a Motor Carrier Permit; however, she was unfamiliar with this and we ultimately had to provide a copy of the MCP regulations ourselves in order to retrieve our vehicle. This situation reflects a clear need for improved training on California towing and impound laws. I will be submitting a formal complaint to the Goleta CHP, as they assigned Love’s to handle the tow. I have been in the auto industry for 31 years and have recovered hundreds of impounded vehicles, and this was by far the worst experience I have encountered.

Love’s Towing is the best towing company in town. They were the only one that were willing to help when my motorcycle broke down and had to be towed back home. Kip and Tony are great and very professional. They have a great team. All very friendly and professional they care for customers vehicles. They were careful loading up my bike to avoid any damages. I highly recommend Loves Towing Company if you are in need of towing services. They are very reliable and are always on time.
